Women released in Cork murder investigation

Gardaí have released the four people being held in relation to the murder of a man whose body was discovered in a slurry pit in Co Cork during the week.

The two women detained at Bandon were released without charge shortly before midday today.

Meanwhile, in the early hours of the morning gardaí released 19-year-old woman from custody in Clonakilty Garda Station.

All three women were arrested on Friday night in Dublin city centre.

A 22-year-old man detained at Dungarvan Garda Station in relation to the same murder investigation has also been released, however, he was immediately re-arrested for an unrelated matter.

A garda spokeswoman said a file will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the matter.

The investigation surrounds the death of a 37-year-old British victim who has not been officially named by gardai.

Officers began a murder investigation after results of a post mortem examination indicated that he died of head injuries.

The victim had been living among a 200-strong community of New Age Travellers in the Coole Mountain area of Dunmanway.

The body was discovered on a Shanlaragh farm last week following a planned search.
