Woman sexually assaulted in Dublin

A woman was beaten and sexually assaulted in south inner city Dublin late last night.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the attack on Mount Argus Road, Dublin 6, which began at about 11.30pm

A Garda spokesman said the woman was dragged into undergrowth as she walked home before being attacked. Her ordeal lasted for almost half an hour.

Officers want to talk to a cyclist, who came to the aid of the woman, to come forward and any taxi drivers who may have been in the area.

An incident room has been set up at Sundrive Road Garda station (01 6666675).
