The Irish Times on the Web's special site on the Northern Ireland Agreement, launched hours after the accord was signed on Good Friday, continues to attract an increased number of visitors, especially from overseas.

The text of the agreement was published by The Irish Times on the Web within half-an-hour of it being released to the press late on Good Friday afternoon and is still available as part of the online supplement called The Path to Peace which can be accessed at http://www.irish-times.com/

Accesses to The Irish Times on the Web have increased by nearly 30 per cent since the special section on the agreement was launched.

In addition to the full content of the supplement published in The Irish Times on April 11th, The Path to Peace contains a chronology of Irish history beginning with the first Norman incursion in 1169 and concluding on April 9th of this year when the British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, spoke of an "irresistible force" which he believed would overcome the "immovable object" of conflict in Northern Ireland.

The site also contains extensive interviews and profiles of some of the key players in the talks.

In addition to the external links there are internal links to many of the documents which helped pave the path to peace, including the text of the Sunningdale and Anglo-Irish Agreements, the Downing Street Declaration and the Report of the International Body on Decommissioning.

Towards the end of this week an online polling booth and a discussion forum will be incorporated into the site in an effort to encourage debate on the agreement and the referendums scheduled for May 22nd.
