Two sought over jewellers raid

The incident occurred at Annerley Jewellers on O'Connell Street at 11.09am

Two men - one with a handgun and the second with a hammer - entered the premises, smashed the glass display cabinet and took a large quantity of diamond rings and bracelets.

The raiders ran off down Shelmadens Lane onto New Quay where they got into a stolen silver Volkswagen Golf. This vehicle was later recovered at Colligan, approximately 4km from Dungarvan, Co Waterford.

Both raiders are described as being of thin/medium build. They are approximately 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in in height, and both wore baseball caps, identical navy jackets and green wool gloves.

The men spoke with eastern European accents.
