Two soldiers in their early 20s died in separate incidents in the North yesterday

Two soldiers in their early 20s died in separate incidents in the North yesterday. The RUC in Derry said that a 21-year-old member of the Royal Military Police became ill during a supervised physical training session at Clooney Base at 8.30 a.m. He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

The RUC is investigating the death of a soldier at Mahon Barracks in Portadown, Co Armagh. He was 22 years of age, a native of Northern Ireland and a member of the Royal Irish Regiment. It is understood that a crime is not suspected.
