Two men were assaulted in separate so-called punishment beatings in the North last night

Two men were assaulted in separate so-called punishment beatings in the North last night.The first occurred in Antrim when two men wielding hammers set upon a 19 year-old man at Firmount Drive in the town. He received cuts and bruises to his head.The second assault took place in Coleraine, Co Derry shortly after 8.30 p.m. when a number of masked men forced their way into a house on Glebe Avenue and set upon the occupant with batons. The man in his 20's received bruising to his legs. An RUC spokesman said the attackers told the man to leave the area. Both men received hospital treatment for their injuries.
