ISTANBUL – Suspected separatist gunmen ambushed a Turkish police escort, killing one officer and wounding two, in northern Turkey near where prime minister Tayyip Erdogan held an election rally yesterday.
Television pictures showed Mr Erdogan subsequently being greeted by thousands of supporters waving party flags at another rally in the northern province of Amasya. – (Reuters)
