Glenn Roeder is expected to return to work within the next two months, West Ham United said today.

The 47-year-old manager collapsed after the 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough on Easter Monday and was later diagnosed as having a blocked blood vessel in his brain.

Club director and former player Trevor Brooking has taken charge of first-team affairs for the rest of the season, but the club have confirmed Roeder has come out of intensive care and is expected to make a full recovery after surgery.

"Tests have revealed a small lesion in the brain that will require neuro-surgery in the near future. A full recovery and a return to work is expected within the next six to eight weeks," a club statement said.
