Moscow - Russia's deputy justice minister said yesterday that Radio Liberty reporter, Andrei Babitsky, had been formally charged with helping the Chechen rebels but the prosecutor's office denied the claim.
Babitsky himself, whose detention in Chechnya last month stirred international concern, expressed surprise at the charges and said his lawyers were trying to clarify the situation.
