The sending of the McCracken tribunal report to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) was raised by the Labour leader at Question Time. Mr Ruairi Quinn said 10 months had elapsed since the DPP received the report and he wondered if anybody from the Taoiseach's office had asked, through the Attorney General, why no action had been taken on it.

Mr Ahern said he would not disclose the details of discussions he had on any matter with the Attorney General or the DPP. He told Mr Quinn he had read some articles on the matter written by Gene Kerrigan in the Sunday Independent.

Pressed further by Mr Quinn, the Taoiseach said: "I have not requested the Attorney General to do things, but I do not normally have to request him to do things."

Mr Quinn asked if the Taoiseach would bring his exchanges with Mr Ahern on the report to the attention of the AG so he could decide himself if it was worth his while to respond to the concern repeatedly published in the Sunday Independent by Mr Kerrigan.
