PSNI investigates Belfast armed robbery

A woman was recovering today after being grabbed by a knife-wielding robber as she left a north Belfast shop.

A woman was recovering today after being grabbed by a knife-wielding robber as she left a north Belfast shop.

The robber seized the woman as she was leaving a newsagents on Matchell Street, bundled her back inside and threatened her and the shop assistant with a kitchen knife as he demanded the contents of the till.

The man made off with a sum of money, leaving the shopper and shop assistant shaken but uninjured.

The PSNI has appealed for help in finding the robber and said he was in his 20s, of medium build and about 5ft 8in tall.

When he left the store at around 7.30pm last night he was wearing a green scarf over his face, a light coloured hoodie with the hood up, dark trousers and black woollen gloves.
