Haughey keeps mobile phone

The Taoiseach said there were no plans to withdraw a mobile phone installed in Mr Charles Haughey's State car.

Mr Ahern said that in accordance with arrangements for former Taoisigh, his Department met the cost of the phone, as well as calls.

The estimated annual cost over the period 1997 to 1999 was £978.75.
