Petrol bombs, a shotgun and ammunition were undergoing forensic tests today after being seized in north Belfast.
The weapons were discovered during a security alert in the loyalist Tyndale Gardens area of the city.
Explosive experts had been called to the scene last night to examine a suspicious device.
Police are also investigating reports that shots were fired in the area, although there was no evidence of any injuries.
