Lagos - Nigerian police yesterday charged a militant ethnic leader with more than 15 counts of murder, robbery and illegal possession of arms.

Mr Ganiyu Adams, leader of the most violent faction of the Odua People's Congress (OPC), was brought to court with three others, wearing handcuffs and leg chains. All four pleaded not guilty to all the charges. Mr Adams said the charges were politically motivated.
