Murphy receives Co-Operation Ireland award

Northern Secretary Paul Murphy has been honoured for his work on the peace process, it was announced today.

Northern Secretary Paul Murphy has been honoured for his work on the peace process, it was announced today.

Peace charity Co-Operation Ireland presented Mr Murphy with their Peace Dove at a gala fundraising dinner in New York.

Mr Murphy said he felt deeply honoured to accept an award from an organisation which had done so much to build peace in Ireland.

He said to join the company of past winners, including President Mary McAleese, George Mitchell and John Hume, made the award even more special.
