After a bleak year on the jobs front in Donegal, there was good news yesterday with confirmation that more than 100 manufacturing jobs have been secured.

Donegal Meats in Carrigans has reversed its decision to cease production in the boning hall, safeguarding 91 jobs, while new orders at Medisize Ireland Ltd in Letterkenny have led to the postponement of plans to cut 25 employees from the workforce.

The boning hall at Carrigans had been due to close at the end of April with the company transferring the operation to one of its sister plants in Derry or Tyrone. The factory employs more than 200 workers.
