A £123 million sterling investment by a firm that makes diagnostic test products to help detect cancer and heart disease will create over 800 jobs in Co Antrim.

The investment announced today by US medicare company Randox Laboratories in biochip technology will give faster and more accurate diagnosis in a wider range of medical conditions, which also includes hormone disorders.

Randox has almost 30,000 clients, mostly hospital laboratories, in 130 countries.

Randox already employs 400 people in the North, and industry minister Mr Ian Pearson said the company plans to create a further 810 jobs over the next three years.
