Beshoffs General Manager, Mr Alan Sweetman, told ireland.comit was too early to say what caused the fire and could not say when the restaurant was likely to re-open.

Five staff and four customers were in the building at the time of the fire at around midday. The restaurant employs a total of 25 staff.

"It was a very quick evacuation. The building is structurally sound but there is a lot of smoke damage," he said.

He said staff were shocked but otherwise uninjured.
