Mr Colman O Raghallaigh was presented with the Gradam Ui Shuilleabhain award last night for his book Drochla Ruairi, which won the book of the year prize. Prof Robert Welch, University of Ulster, presented the Bord na Leabhar Gaeilge award in the National Library.
Six titles were shortlisted. Drochla Ruairi was chosen as it was excellently produced and was targeted at a specific audience. The author is a primary schoolteacher in Mayo. He has produced other books and written several plays for children.
