Court continues injunction against interconnector objectors

The High Court has continued an interim order restraining objectors interfering with work on the €600 million electricity interconnector project between Ireland and Britain. The injunction was granted last month to Eigrid plc against Rush Community Council Ltd and five of its members. The court heard work had been postponed for five months to address concerns of local residents. Eirgrid claimed delays could cost up to €100,000 a day. The case was adjourned for a week.

Quarry creditors face €29m deficit

The High Court has made an order winding up a quarry firm in Elphin, Co Roscommon, employing 45 people. Mr Justice Roderick Murphy yesterday appointed Tom Kavanagh of Kavanagh Farrell, as liquidator to Hanly Brothers Ltd, which operates the quarry. The court heard the firm is insolvent.

Creditors were facing a deficit of more than €29 million on winding up, it was stated.
