Nicosia - Nearly 1,000 Greek Cypriots crossed into Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus yesterday to visit St Andrew's monastery on the far eastern tip of the island for the Christian Feast of the Assumption.
The 963 pilgrims, most of them sick children or the elderly, travelled in a convoy of about 25 buses accompanied by vehicles belonging to UN peacekeepers.
