A Galway woman is to go on trial for murder in May after failing to turn up In court for her original trial date.

Una Black (26) from Droim Chaoin, Bishop O'Donnell Road - and formally of Walter Macken Flats in Mervue - is accused of the murder of John Malone at Walter Macken flats in Mervue in Galway City in December 2006.

She was arrested in Rosslare on Friday after absconding to Wales the day before her trial was due to start in Galway last week.

Mr Justice Paul Carney set a new date for her trial on May 26th. He refused to consider a later date as she would be seven months pregnant at the time.

He told Ms Black that she was personally responsible for the trial not being concluded in Galway later this week and remanded her in custody until her trial date.
