LONDON - Bishop Roderick Wright (56), who abandoned his Catholic diocese in Scotland, has applied for state benefit, the Mail on Sunday has claimed. It said the bishop registered for a jobseeker's allowance, or unemployment benefit, on November 14th.

Dr Wright resigned his post as Bishop of Argyll and the Isles after leaving Oban with Mrs Kathleen Macphee (41) in September.
