Flatley puts best foot forward for charity CD

MICHAEL FLATLEY made a rare public appearance last night to celebrate the launch of a CD by blind and partially sighted children.

Flatley has been keeping a low profile by his standards but made an exception for an old friend, well-known traditional music producer Catherine McEvoy.

She has now produced a CD called A Musical Vision.

The venture, which was launched at Woodlock Hall in Dublin, was supported by the Arts Council. All funds raised will go to supporting music teaching for blind and partially sighted children at ChildVision, the National Education Centre for Blind Children.

Flatley arrived for the launch in the company of his wife, Niamh. “I’m friends with Catherine McEvoy for years and years and years. I’m a huge fan of hers and the things she is doing here are wonderful,” he said.

Before Riverdance made him world famous, Flatley was a flautist and he played some tunes for the assembled audience last night.
