The death has taken place in Cork of Mr Michael Pat Murphy jnr, son of the late Labour TD Mr Michael Pat Murphy and a brother-in-law of the Minister for Justice, Mr O'Donoghue.
Mr Murphy (37) served as an Independent member of Cork County Council for a number of years and was vice chairman for a term. He declined many offers to go into national politics and preferred to concentrate on local issues. He is survived by his wife and two children.
