Newcastle United and Wales striker Craig Bellamy was today charged with three racially aggravated offences.

The 23-year-old, of Jesmond Park Mews, Newcastle, did not appear before Cardiff magistrates today when the charges were read out.

Bellamy faces one charge of using words or behaviour likely to cause racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress. He also faces two charges of racially aggravated intentional harassment.

All three offences are alleged to have taken place in Cardiff on March 24th.

The case was adjourned until July 10th when Bellamy will be present.
