The High Court closed a Tallaght building site yesterday after the judge heard the health and safety risk was so serious that use of the site should cease immediately.
Mr Vincent McGauran, an inspector with the National Authority for Occupational Safety and Health, said he found a widespread lack of safety and an "apparent incompetency" of management to conform with health and safety regulations at the site at the junction of Belgard Road and New Blessington Road, Tallaght, Dublin, when he inspected it on Monday.
He observed breaches of the regulation and said he believed the site developer, McCabe Builders, of Oriel Road, Collon, Co Louth, had a poor safety record.
