Burton's books sold for charity

London - An auction of 1,500 books once owned by the late Richard Burton were sold yesterday to raise more than £14,000 for a theatre charity fund. One set of volumes from the Everyman Collection given to the actor by his then wife Elizabeth Taylor raised £1,610. Many of the volumes dated from Burton's student days after he gained a scholarship to Oxford.
