Blood service head appointed

Mr Liam Dunbar, who has been acting chief executive of the Blood Transfusion Service Board, has been appointed permanently.

He was seconded from St James's Hospital last year following the failure of the board to act on 1991 evidence that its anti D blood product was infected with the hepatitis C virus. His appointment was made permanent last week, a spokesman for the board said.
