November was the warmest since records began in Bellmullet, Co Mayo, and two degrees above normal across the country, according to figures released by Met Éireann.
Met Éireann said average air temperatures for the month were between eight and 11 degrees, and that it was the warmest November for between five and 13 years generally and the warmest on record at Belmullet, where observations started in 1956.
The month began with exceptionally warm weather, and record high November maxim values were recorded at Kilkenny and Clones on the November 1st. The highest temperature, 17.5 degrees, was recorded in Kilkenny on that day.
The highest mean monthly temperature of 10.9 degrees was recorded at Valentia Observatory, the warmest at the Co Kerry station since November 1994.
The lowest mean monthly temperature, 8.1 degrees, was at Knock airport, but it was the warmest November since records began there in 1996.
Rainfall totals were below normal almost everywhere, with only between 50 per cent and 75 per cent of average amounts at many stations.
Sunshine totals for the month were very variable across the country. While Cork airport measured 12 per cent more sunshine than normal, Malin Head's total of only 15 hours represented just 33 per cent of normal and was its lowest November total since sunshine measurements began there in 1915.
