Peter Bacon, the economist who advised the Government on its proposal to create a so-called bad bank, said a court case involving loans by ACC Bank to property developer Liam Carroll probably won’t undermine the government plan.

Asked by reporters at the MacGill summer school in Glenties, Co Donegal today if the case would damage the proposed National Asset Management Agency (Nama), he said, “No, I don’t believe so.”

ACC, part of Rabobank Nederland NV, has no comment to make on the case, a spokeswoman in Dublin said today.
