The Labour leader Mr Ruairí Quinn TD said today Mr McDowell has been "hopelessly compromised" in his dual role as Attorney General and President of the Progressive Democrats.

"Nothing better illustrates the ludicrous state of affairs than his interview on Morning Irelandtoday, where he used his position as Attorney General to refuse to answer questions on his role as in this investigation, before slipping into PD President mode to comment on other matters of current political controversy," he said.

Mr Quinn also claimed that "it is not believable" that the Taoiseach did not know the contents of a report on the Aquatic Centre when he brought the matter to Cabinet a day after the report was delivered.

Mr McDowell's report will be submitted to the Cabinet at its next meeting on Wednesday week.
