Although they now rarely serve their original function any longer, wine coolers still tend to be popular items, so this example ought to do well on Monday when offered for sale by Morgan O'Driscoll.

His auction at Cork's Vienna Woods Hotel starting at 6.15 p.m. has plenty of good furniture.

Among the best being an 18th century rosewood and parquetry bureau cabinet which is expected to sell for £15,000 to £20,000.

Other handsome lots include a Regency mahogany sofa table (£2,200 to £2,600), a Georgian mahogany fold-over tea-table (£2,500 to £3,000) and a set of eight Regency mahogany dining chairs (£6,500 to £8,000).

The early part of this sale covers silver, such as a George III Irish sauceboat (£500 to £700) and it concludes with more than 120 pictures, including work by Adam Buck, Patrick Hennessy, Gladys McCabe, Norah McGuinness and William Scott. The mahogany wine cooler shown here, by the way, has a pre-sale estimate of £2,500 to £3,000.
