It's been a while since Gemma Hayes graced a reasonably large stage, and while this isn't a bona fide gig of hers (her appearance is part of the Inspirations concert, which is taking place in honour of the late Paul Newman and in aid of his charity, Barretstown), it nonetheless provides a good opportunity to catch the singer-songwriter in an environment where there is little or no pressure to sell her wares. If we're lucky we might get to hear a preview of some songs from her forthcoming album, which was recorded in Los Angeles and France. If we're not (and that's a very small not), then we'll just have to do with some cover versions – one of which might be a rendition of Kate Bush's Cloudbusting, which has been available for free on Hayes's website (gemmahayes.com) since December.
