One of a pair, this 19th century French inlaid satinwood commode comes with a veined marble top and a band of cast bronze scrollwork. Together, the two are expected to go for £6,000 to £10,000 next Wednesday at the James Adam salerooms in Dublin where they are included in an auction which also features a number of pieces of Irish furniture. Among this latter group are such curiosities as a 19th century Jacobean-revival oak bookcase, reckoned to fetch £5,000 to £7,000 and a pair of George III mahogany-framed armchairs (£4,000 to £6,000).

Also included are certain lots of Irish silver, not least a pair of William IV circular salvers, their rims carrying cast acanthus leaf decoration (£2,000 to £2,500). The auction takes place at Adam's, at 11.30 a.m.
