Celtic goalkeeper David Marshall is set to quit the club after missing out on a championship medal. The 21-year-old found himself out of the side after the 5-0 thumping in Bratislava and 4-4 draw at Motherwell.
The Scotland international, who shot to prominence with a shut-out in Barcelona, has since found himself in the shadows with Gordon Strachan sticking with Artur Boruc.
But having had a disappointing night in the defeat at Coventry in Richard Shaw's testimonial this week, Marshall has expressed his frustration.
He said: "I'm the guy who lost four goals to Motherwell when we drew at Fir Park at the start of the season. The championship win means nothing to me because I haven't even played enough games to qualify for a medal as a member of the squad.
"I'll go anywhere rather than feel like this again."
Marshall was an instant hero in the UEFA Cup tie in the Nou Camp just over two years ago.
But he added: "I know there'll be people who say that I need to be patient and that time is on my side. But there are plenty of goalkeepers who have accepted that attitude that you don't hear about any more.
"Being a good goalkeeper isn't something that comes back to you after a gap like the one I've been through. You need a run at the first team to be successful. I look at Craig Gordon with Hearts for a comparison. There was a time when
he and I were bracketed together for the future.
"Now he's a contender for player of the year and I feel as if I'm going nowhere. I can't afford to let my life go on like that."
