Graduate Opportunities

The Irish Times operates a Commercial Graduate Programme and an Editorial Internship Scheme.

The Graduate Programme, designed to run over a two-year period, provides the successful applicants with the opportunity to experience a vibrant media environment through placements across the commercial departments of The Irish Times Group.

The Editorial Internship scheme, run over a 12-month period, is intended to give participants an opportunity to work at the cutting edge of multimedia journalism in the centre of the Irish Times newsroom.

Work Experience in The Irish Times

The Irish Times offers a limited number of short work experience opportunities throughout the summer months to those pursuing a career in journalism. The purpose of these placements is to provide budding journalists with some experience in a real media environment.

Placements are unpaid and range in duration from a few days to a maximum of three weeks. We will accept applications in writing, with a cover letter and CV to hrdept@irishtimes.com.

Transition Year Work Experience Placements 

The Irish Times operates a work experience placement programme for transition year students throughout the academic year.  This programme is for students who are interested in how The Irish Times operates and would like to learn more about a career in media.

Transition year work experience placements for the academic year 2012/2013 have been filled at this stage.  We will begin to accept applications for the 2013/2014 academic year in July 2013.

If a work placement with The Irish Times is something that you are interested in, applications in writing should be sent to hrdept@irishtimes.com.  Your application should include your contact details, the name of your school and the dates that interest you.
