Applications are invited from recent graduates, or those expecting to graduate in 2016, to join The Irish Times as part of our Graduate Programme.
This placement will give you exposure to a wide range of projects for The Irish Times and the opportunity to broaden and build skills and experience in a dynamic and growing section within the media industry.
We are looking for individuals who have a strong interest in the contemporary media landscape in Ireland. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility and commitment and have the ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team. Working to specific objectives agreed at the start of your placement, you will be expected to contribute from the outset with a results focused approach to your work.
Have you studied web design? Have you developed the programming and graphic skills required for web design? Do you have creativity and imagination?
The role will involve brainstorming, concepting, sketching, designing, programming and producing deliverables for The Irish Times digital properties.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are extremely important. Excellent attention to detail is required. The ability to work on own initiative, meet deadlines and work as part of a fast paced collaborative team is essential.
Have you studied computer science or a related field? Have you developed the development skills required to build modern web and mobile applications?
The role will involve developing, modifying and implementing multi-platform applications. You will be required to collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, deliver, and test new systems or features. You will be expected to learn, continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies.
Previous programming experience through college or work placement would be an advantage. A solid understanding of software development and in particular web development is expected. We are looking for candidates with a passion for writing scalable, robust and maintainable software.
