Walsh Cup: In a repeat of their historic Christy Ring Cup victory last August, Westmeath hurlers overcame the challenge of visitors Down in a lively clash at Cusack Park, Mullingar, yesterday.

With the Mournemen fielding without their Ballygalget contingent, Westmeath were always in control and enjoyed a five-point advantage, 1-7 to 0-6, at the break.
