Henry Cecil's Beat Hollow ended a 13-year British drought in the £115,274 Group One Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp yesterday.
The Epsom Derby third (1410) was handy throughout under Richard Quinn and he led going to the furlong pole. From then on the Sadler's Wells colt was not hard pressed to contain Premier Pas by a length in the 10-furlong contest.
Cecil said: "He won despite racing keenly and is still a big baby. We always felt that this would be a suitable opportunity for him. There are no immediate plans."
Rhenium was a further three lengths back in third, with a gap of two lengths back to the dead-heating pair for fourth, the disappointing Best Of The Bests and Boutron.
Simon Crisford, the Godolphin spokesman, said: "Best Of The Bests had had three hard races in succession and he will now have a break."
