Madam, - As a Northern Protestant who has been to Croke Park six or seven times, I think the time has come for the GAA to allow rugby to be played on its velvet surface.
The ethos of the GAA is 32-county and Irish rugby is just that. A famous Ballymena rugby player said his greatest thrill "was the wearing of the green of Ireland".
A positive decision would gain the GAA a new image among Northern Protestants. - Yours, etc.,
JOE KYLE, Fendale Park, Cullybackey, Co Antrim.
