Madam, - The recent decision by An Bord Pleanála to request additional information from Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council on the future of the Sandyford Industrial Estate comes much to the relief of local residents.
The people of Stillorgan have being campaigning for a blueprint for the future development of the estate for nearly three years without much support from the council. In that time we have seen a massive increase in the number of high-density, high-rise developments approved by the council on an ad hoc basis.
Recently, An Bord Pleanála stated its concern at the lack of a detailed plan for the estate. It has also highlighted its unease at the absence of a strategy to provide public spaces and playgrounds for the immediate needs of this expanding area.
- Yours, etc,
BARRY SAUL, Mount Merrion, Co Dublin
