Sir, – Dublin City Council is asking citizens of the “Fair City” to sign-up for Team Dublin Clean-Up 2016, with 10,000 volunteers to take part in clean-up events on Easter Saturday.
No doubt many of those good citizens will be picking up hundreds of cable ties, which have been dumped on footpaths in my constituency of Dublin Central and across the city, in the wake of the general election and in contravention of the Litter Pollution Act.
It is beyond ironic that some of those who seek to represent us and legislate would blatantly break the law and foul our city with their rubbish. Dublin City Council is even offering free recycling of posters and cable ties.
To be honest, this issue has me “fit to be tied”. – Yours, etc,
