Olympic gold medalist Ronnie Delaney will be honoured today by President Mary McAleese to mark the 50th anniversary of his achievement.
The Melbourne 1956 champion will be received by Mrs McAleese at Áras an Uachtaráin in Dublin's Phoenix Park.
The head of state will pay a short tribute to the 71-year-old Co Wicklow legend before presenting him with a small gift.
Mr Delaney was also awarded the Freedom of Dublin earlier this year.

In 1956, he became the first Irishman to win an Olympic title in athletics since Bob Tisdall in 1932.
Mrs McAleese has honoured the contributions of artist Louis le Brocquy and economist TK Whitaker in recent weeks.
