Polish Prime Minister Mr Marek Belka's cabinet won a confidence vote by 234 votes to 218 today, enabling it to govern until elections next year and boosting political stability in the largest EU newcomer.
"I congratulate the Prime Minister," said parliamentary speaker Mr Jozef Oleksy.
Belka promised parliament to submit his cabinet for a confidence vote in October, in a bid to secure its support after he took over the job from Mr Leszek Miller in May.
Financial markets had largely priced in Mr Belka's victory and hope it will help the former finance minister and respected economist to push through needed but unpopular budget reforms.
