The men’s 4x50m freestyle team relay recorded a new Irish senior record time of 1.30.26 in the heats.

The relay quartet of Conor Leaney, Steven McQuillan, Donal O’Neill and Michael Dawson finished in 13th place overall.

Commenting on the overall week’s performances in Istanbul, Swim Ireland’s National Performance Director Peter Banks said: “Overall we’ve had good performances from the Irish team and I’m pleased with the number of new national records set.

“We still have work to do in order to be making semi-finals and finals though and especially at this calibre of event - and we will work hard to get to that point.”
