A new lifeboat station has been opened and a new lifeboat named at Clifden, Connemara, Co. Galway. The boathouse and Atlantic 75 vessel mark "a significant investment" by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in the area, Mr Jackie O'Grady,secretary of the station, said at a ceremony at the weekend.
The dedication of the lifeboat and blessing of the lifeboat house were conducted by Father Sean Cunnane and Archdeacon Anthony Previte of Clifden.
