An Israeli military sources said soldiers exchanged fire with gunmen during a raid to arrest wanted militants near Nablus.

Two soldiers were also wounded in the gun battle and another Palestinian was arrested.

Medics said a Palestinian gunman was killed in the raid.

Earlier today, Israeli attack helicopters fired missiles at two offices of an armed wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah movement in Gaza City, wrecking them, Palestinian security sources said.

In a third Israeli air strike in Gaza, helicopters fired at a helicopter launch pad near Mr Abbas's office in Gaza. There were no casualties in the Gaza raids.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said the first two strikes targeted offices of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed wing of Fatah Israel blamed for firing rockets at its towns and cities yesterday.

One of the rockets fired from Gaza struck an Israeli factory near the town of Ashkelon and set it ablaze, injuring one Israeli. Another struck inside the town of Sderot but caused no injuries, the army said
