A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a fellow Lithuanian factory worker in Co Cavan.
Gardaí from Bailieboro were called to a poultry factory on the outskirts of Cootehill at 8.30 pm last night where they discovered two injured men. They were taken to Cavan General Hospital where one of the men died in the early hours of this morning.
The second man’s injuries were not life threatening.
It is understood that gardaí arrested him after he had been treated by medical staff. He was detained at 5.30 this evening and is being held at Cavan Garda station.
The Assistant State pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy performed a preliminary post mortem this afternoon, the results of which have not been released.
Earlier today Superintendent Tom Brady, who is leading the investigation, said the deceased was a married man in his thirties who had been living in the area for about a year.
