AS the title suggests, Earth is again under siege. The culprits this time are Cybrid Hercs which, to the lay people among us, are oversized robots with awesome firepower capabilities. These mechanical warriors were created by man for his benefit, but low and behold they have now turned against their masters.

You too control one of these Hercs (a loyal one that is) and your objective is to complete the 50 missions set out or, as the makers would have you believe, save the Earth and mankind from extinction.

At first the only type of Here available to you is the Outlaw which, in the Here world, is as about as low as they come, but, being the hero of the hour, you should manage to get by despite this handicap. Once out on the battlefield you must complete a set amount of tasks in order to successfully complete each mission.

Tackling enemy Hercs isn't straightforward. Aside from the problems of manoeuvring your machine into position, you must take into account that a disabled Here is far more valuable to you than a completely destroyed one.

Disabled Hercs can be salvaged from the battlefield and afterwards your scientists can rebuild these into more powerful equipment.

In all you'll have to get to grips with nine different Hercs, plus the Razor which gives you the chance to take to the air. And if there is any significant difference between this game and Mech Warrior 2 it is the addition of the Razor.

Earthsiege 2 is an exceptionally addictive game. You need only witness one of your missiles hitting its target and watch the hapless machine crumble to the ground in a dazzling display of pyrotechnics, to give you the hunger for more. Earthsiege 2 is a heavy weight in every respect but controlling both the Hercs and the Razor can be difficult and to do it proficiently you'll need a decent joystick
