A liquidator has been appointed to oversee the closure of a Cork wedding dress boutique.
Eugene Carey, a solicitor acting on behalf of The Wedding Dress Ltd, told a creditors' meeting this morning the business was over €1 million in debt, leaving dozens of brides-to-be without a gown and substantially out of pocket.
Mr Carey said proprietor Judith Linehan had "no assets to speak of" and owes money to over 341 creditors. He said Ms Linehan deeply regretted the closure of the shop.
The business which has shops in Cork and Kenmare closed suddenly last month affecting more than 180 brides waiting for their gowns.
Some 80 individuals have had their gowns delivered by courier over the past week.
It is understood that those who have paid for their dresses in full are most likely to be compensated.
